This is a combination procedure that involves a surgical upper-lid blepharoplasty and a non-surgical, lower-lid blepharoplasty with our Sciton® Erbium laser. So, while you will have stitches on your upper lids (which will vanish into your new eyelid crease), there will be no cutting or stitches on your lower lids.
While upper-lid blepharoplasty is relatively uncomplicated for the majority of clients, not everybody is suitable for lower-lid surgery. Many clients want rejuvenation in the lower-lid area, but are not suitable for lower-lid blepharoplasties because they do not have enough fat in the area to be excised. However, for these clients a laser procedure would be ideal; and our Sciton® Erbium laser is an effective and safe option for lift and skin-tightening in the lower lid area when surgery is neither needed nor an option.
In addition, while surgical blepharoplasty can adequately address excess skin, orbital fat prolapse and ptosis, surgery does not address issues such as skin laxity, texture, fine lines, and pigmentation. However, these facets can be improved with Erbium profractional laser resurfacing. Therefore, combining both treatments (surgery and laser) can provide a comprehensive rejuvenation of all the eye area, addressing both structural and surface-level concerns.
Patients will have oral sedation, and the entire procedure (surgery and laser) is performed under local anaesthetic in one of our surgical theatres on-site at The Clinic Holland Park, West London. The eye surgeons at The Clinic often work together, so one surgeon might well be performing the upper-lid surgery while another surgeon will be in charge of administering the Erbium laser for the lower-lid rejuvenation. You will have guards inserted under your eyelids to protect your eyes during the laser treatment. The entire procedure will take approx. 90 minutes, after which time you will be taken to recuperate in one of our private recovery pods and attended to by our nursing staff.
Downtime is approximately 1-2 weeks, after which there will be minimal bruising and you can resume wearing makeup and your normal activities.
After surgery, you will be given an antibiotic ointment to treat the incision area for the following 2 weeks; and be advised to apply a cold compress to the eyelids every few hours to help lessen post-operative swelling and bruising. You will also be given a skin cream to apply to your lower lid area, and expect the lower-lid area to peel. A follow-up appointment with your surgeon to review your results and recovery takes place around 14 days after surgery at The Clinic Holland Park, West London.
Laser Bright Blepharoplasty is an effective and efficient solution for individuals seeking comprehensive eyelid rejuvenation with upper-eyelid surgery as its central component. The advantage of this combination is its excellent efficacy and safety profile, and the ability to address multiple periocular concerns in all four eyelids simultaneously, under local anaesthetic. All surgical procedures requiring local anaesthetic can be performed on-site at The Clinic Holland Park, West London, in our purpose-built, state-of-the-art theatres.
We have two state-of-the-art operating theatres installed on our lower-ground floor; and to afford our clients ultimate comfort and discretion, there are private ‘recovery pods’ adjacent to the surgical theatres, overseen by our nurse practitioners.
Here in the recovery pods, clients can take an hour to ‘get themselves together’ after surgery – there’s no rush, and private washroom facilities are close by. If you need transport to get you home, The Clinic offers a concierge chauffeur service to take you wherever you need to go. We intend to make your whole experience at The Clinic as excellent as possible.
