Sofwave

Sofwave™ is an FDA-approved, completely safe, non-invasive ultrasound treatment that lifts, tightens and rejuvenates the skin while tackling fine lines and wrinkles. Sofwave™ uses next-generation Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam (SUPERB™) Technology, which is designed to treat the largest surface area possible while minimising discomfort and downtime. Sofwave™s unique ultrasound delivers a controlled level of energy (in terms of amount and location), while simultaneously protecting the surface of the skin with Sofcool – an integrated cooling mechanism to alleviate any discomfort during the procedure. Even better, although areas are prepped with topical anaesthetic before the treatment begins, there is no downtime after Sofwave™. Any redness caused by the procedure will have dissipated within an hour.

Put simply, Sofwave™ heats the skin to stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin, which will cause the treated skin to firm up and tighten, while diminishing fine lines and wrinkles. Sofwave™ can provide up to 4mm of lift in the brow area, so it is an ideal treatment for those who are interested in a brow lift but do not feel quite ready for surgery.

Sofwave™ skin treatment can be used on the full face and neck (from the top of the brow, including the orbital area) for a total skin rejuvenation and lift. In addition, Sofwave™ can be used on the body to treat areas of skin that are loose, crepey or sagging – such as the décolletage (chest), upper arms, tummy and thighs; and Sofwave™ can treat cellulite too.

Sofwave™ usually delivers visible results after a single treatment. Some clients will see immediate results, but usually improvements will begin to emerge after 1 week, as collagen and elastin regenerate. Real results will show between 6 and 7 weeks after treatment, and expect further, gradual improvement up to 6 months afterwards, as the skin becomes tighter, smoother and lifted. Results last for 12-24 months.

1 or 2 Sofwave™ sessions are usually advised, depending on the client’s desired outcome. If needed, a top-up treatment of Sofwave™ can be administered after six months; although maintenance sessions are usually advised after 1 year, to keep up the regeneration.

Prior to the arrival of Sofwave™ on the aesthetics market, Ultherapy was considered the gold standard for non-surgical facial rejuvenation and skin-tightening. And arguably, Sofwave™ and Ultherapy use different methods (ultrasound versus radiofrequency) to achieve similar results. The main difference is that Ultherapy works much deeper under the skin, and also carries the risk of nerve injury or unwanted fat loss in treated areas.

There is no such risk with Sofwave™, which works on a more superficial level than Ultherapy. Sofwave™s patented SUPERB Technology delivers ultrasound beams with precision to an accurate depth of 1.5mm – which is the optimum depth necessary for the stimulation of collagen and elastin fibres. Each shot of energy with Sofwave™ therefore safely targets skin tissue at both the right temperature and depth to stimulate skin rejuvenation.

HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) devices are similar to Sofwave™ in that they concentrate ultrasound energy to create a focal hotspot under the skin. Yet whereas HIFU devices can only deliver tiny dots of ultrasound energy at a time, Sofwave™ – with its 7 parallel energy beams — can treat much larger areas quickly and accurately with an even coverage.

Compared with Ultherapy and HIFU, therefore, Sofwave™ is not only safer and technologically superior, but delivers better, faster results too. Sofwave™ is safe to use all over the face (including the eye area) with no risks, with clients usually needing just one treatment to reach the desired outcome; whereas Ultherapy requires multiple treatments to reach the desired outcome and is a notoriously uncomfortable procedure.
