Dr Lucy Howard

Dr Lucy Howard is a Consultant Dermatologist on the UK Specialist Register, having completed full dermatology training across several leading NHS institutions.

She earned her medical degree (MBChB) from the University of Birmingham in 2013, where she also completed a Bachelor of Medical Science (BMedSc) in International Health. As part of her academic development, she undertook an internship at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Switzerland and research in India.

Dr Howard completed her postgraduate medical training in Birmingham, Bath, London, and Kent. During her specialist dermatology training in Kent, she was mentored by Dr Andrew Birnie; Mohs surgeon and founder of Altruist Sunscreen. She has presented at major national and international dermatology conferences, including the British Association of Dermatologists Annual Meeting and the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV), and has published research in peer-reviewed international medical journals.

Currently, Dr Howard holds a substantive consultant post at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Beckenham site. She serves as governance lead for the dermatology team and is actively involved in the supervision and training of junior doctors.

Her clinical expertise includes the use of dermoscopy in skin cancer diagnosis, dermatological surgery, and the management of both adult and paediatric dermatological conditions.

Dr Howard is known for her friendly and down-to-earth manner, while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and meticulous attention to detail. She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, the Royal Society of Medicine, the British Association of Dermatologists, and the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV). She remains actively engaged with these professional bodies to stay at the forefront of clinical developments and emerging advances in dermatology.

Outside of her clinical work, Dr Howard enjoys spending time in the garden, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and exploring new places with her husband and their adventurous two-year-old daughter.
