Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology first emerged in the mid 1990s as an effective treatment for skin pigmentation and vascular conditions. What are Sciton’s ‘Intelligent Control’ and ‘Skin Positioning System’ technologies?
Intelligent Control (IC) works as the ‘brain’ of the pulsed-light device, and processes spatial data for automated pulse placements. Effortlessly, IC adjusts to variations in handpiece movement, speed, rotation, and patient curvature; and works in combination with Sciton’s innovatory Skin Positioning System™ (SPS™): an integrated motion-tracking sensor that provides real-time, 3D spatial data on the handpiece’s position and orientation while it is in use. The SPS adeptly tracks the aesthetic doctor’s speed, responding to slower or accelerating movement of the handpiece in order to enhance treatment accuracy. Is BBL® HEROic™ suitable for everyone?
BBL® HEROic™ is suitable for Fitzpatrick skin types I-V. Please note that BBL® HEROic™ cannot be used on Fitzpatrick skin type VI, nor on suntanned type V. Your skin type will be assessed before any BBL® HEROic™ procedure to determine the wavelength settings necessary for your treatment.
FAQs
BBL® HEROic™, with its revolutionary Intelligent Control (IC) and Skin Positioning System™ (SPS) technology, allows the effortless delivery of highly effective treatments for every patient, every time. HEROic™’s automated technology reduces the overall treatment time, automates pulse placement to prevent issues like striping and pulse stacking, enhances patient comfort, and delivers exceptional patient outcomes for patients with various skin conditions.
BBL® HEROic™ treatments are no-downtime, comfortable procedures, and can provide both targeted treatments and ongoing skin maintenance. Each flash of BBL® HEROic™ light produces a feeling of warmth. Most patients easily tolerate this feeling, without the need for anaesthetic numbing cream. Your clinician will use BBL®s CoolComfort handpiece (which provides contact cooling to protect the epidermis), and will work quickly while BBL® HEROic™ light is emitted in flashes across the treatment area. You will wear safety goggles throughout this treatment.
This can vary, depending on the individual, on the area being treated, and on the settings used. However, most patients see results in 2-4 weeks. Initially, pigment in your skin is darkened, which is the preferable result clinically, and helps you know that you have had an optimal treatment. Then, over time, your body’s natural healing process will remove the pigmented cells and replace them with new cells. Your brown spots and red patches will be replaced by fresh, undamaged skin.
After every BBL® HEROic™ treatment, it is important that you: use a physical-barrier sunscreen of 30 SPF+ (with active ingredients zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide); limit your sun exposure; and wear cover-up clothing (to shield the treated areas on your body from direct sun). Your aesthetic doctor will advise on any post treatment regime you should follow.
You will see results from a single BBL® HEROic™ treatment; however, the number of treatments will depend on the severity of your pigmentation. A typical patient requires two treatments.
